The governor seems confused

During the governor's budget speech, he kept pretending we have a healthy economy while proposing new taxes and regulations, which will hurt the economy, as well as our personal budgets. He proposed cutting human services ($20m) and small school grants to help trim the budget deficit. At the beginning of the session he said that if I voted for Milne, the government would be paralyzed. Well, I voted for Milne, and, sure enough, the government is paralyzed.

This is an important election!

We had a nice little break at the Jersey shore, where I spoke a couple of times in memory of Jesse, and we had nice visits with family there. The shore was fun, but it's good to be home in our beautiful Vermont hills, and I'm ready to continue to serve to keep life good (and affordable) here. This election is important. Be sure to vote. I appreciate your support.

Staying in touch

Staying in touch takes many forms. Tonight I went to a gathering to see the Republican candidate for governor. It was good to visit with local people concerned with what's going on in our state and concerned with helping it move in a better direction.

Campaign season begins!

Yesterday I enjoyed being in the parade at Sheffield, and then better late than never at Albany. I always enjoy visiting with constituents and meeting new friends. I guess the campaign season has begun in earnest, and I appreciate your encouragement and support.

A need for accountability

Here in Vermont, where the liberal majority has been in control for many years, there has been no real accountability for our politicians and those in office. We are suffering from the long term effects of this situation, and everyday in the news we are seeing the breakdown of government controlled agencies. Corruption, inefficient use of money and resources, and lives that are harmed. I will continue to stand for my constituents and work in their best interests, and not work for "better" and bigger government.

Good week with our future

I had a great week working with our community young people in Vacation Bible School at church. Nearly 30 kids and 20 great helpers made for an exciting week. These kids are our future, and I always enjoy being part of their lives for that week.

A week of fun and hard work

This week is our Vacation Bible School in our church for our town's children. It is a joy to give these children our love and message of God's grace. Then in the afternoon I attended a retreat for the board of directors for RuralEdge, which is an organization which provides affordable housing for our communities. It was a productive time together. A busy and fun day!
